Creating Conditions for Learning

One of my coaching clients is brand new to her role as a nonprofit director.


She is nervous but is approaching her new responsibilities as a learner, asking great questions, seeking out mentors, and taking advantage of the coaching support to broaden her skill set.


It is clear from talking with her that her leadership has created the conditions for her to be successful.


In supporting her financially with access to coaching, she feels she has access to the training she needs to grow.


In giving her access to the coaching proactively, rather than in response to poor performance, she feels commitment to being a learner.


And in giving her access to one on one coaching, designed specifically for her, rather than training that happens in a sea of people, this leader has been able to shape her own pathway to growth.


It isn’t enough to simply give people access to learning.


What are the conditions under which each of us learns?


How do we create those conditions as leaders or empower people to create for themselves?
