Is Your Lens Strengths-Based or Deficit-Based?

Design appeals to me so much as a tool to create and facilitate culture because it feels so optimistic.


Imagine you are developing learning experiences for a group of people.


It could be a class in a school or a training for a group of professionals.


Do you design the experiences based upon deficits or strengths?


Meaning, do you design the learning experiences based upon what you know people DON'T know and CAN'T do? OR Do you think about what the ideal student or professional outcome might be and design learning experiences that build people from what they DO know and CAN do toward that ideal?


More than semantics, how you frame learning within your organization has a powerful impact on the learning culture as a whole.
