Motivation & Joseph's Dreamcoat
My daughter is in a community theater production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this summer.
She has spent hours and hours and HOURS on her bed with the song tracks and her music.
This morning at breakfast she announced she was going to run through the entire play once by herself and then each member of the family could rotate holding the music while she sang to see if she had it memorized.
My appointment is at 5:30. :)
Three things spurring on her motivation:
The kid lives to sing.
There is no way she is going to let down the other members of the cast by not pulling her weight.
Her performance is public.
Translation for learning and leadership:
Connect folks to their interests.
Build a collectivist culture in your organization.
Find a way to make practice public. Important distinction: Think SHOWCASE, not show OFF or show UP.
How do you motivate and bring out the best in your learners?
